The non-destructive identification of illicit drugs and explosives using THz and AI technologies

The proposed rapid, non-destructive, and non-contact solution for concealed illicit drugs, hazardous chemicals and medicines identification is based on the patented THz wave sensing technology. The designed time-domain spectroscopic measurement system operates in the THz range in the electromagnetic spectrum which lies between microwave and infrared frequencies, with frequencies ranging from 100 GHz to 10 THz. The privilege feature of THz sensing technology is its capability of penetrating through many packaging materials which allows unique pass-through non-destructive detection. With this THz system, the technology also includes a library comprising THz spectra of selected pure substances through collaboration with strategic partner organizations. The algorithm for auto identification is to be developed through this project as planned.
